The GIN Group, based in Genoa, is one of the leading players in the Mediterranean shipbuilding industry, comprising, amongst others, two of the city’s historic shipyards: T. Mariotti – specialising in the construction of ultra-luxury cruise ships and military vessels – and San Giorgio del Porto – recognised worldwide as a leading centre for the repair, maintenance and conversion of all types of vessels, and now active in the green new-build segment.
Lagomarsino Anielli (LA) is another successful, long-established Genoese company that has been operating for decades in Italy and abroad in the sectors of sandblasting, painting, insulation, flooring, and ship maintenance and repairs.
The transaction aims to strengthen the integrated service offering provided by the GIN Group and LA to the maritime sector and to consolidate their position in the ship maintenance and repair market through closer and more systematic collaboration between the two companies.
On tax matters, the GIN group was advised by Baker Tilly Italy Tax S.r.l. STP under the supervision of partner Dr Clemente Bianco, with the support of senior manager Dr Donato Spagna.
